About m
My fascination with photography began when I was seven. My parents bought me a small camera which I carried everywhere in India that summer and used about 10 roles of film (some of which is still undeveloped because my parents got fed up of the bill). In 2004, after spending an enormous amount of money paying for mass amounts of disposable cameras and film, they gave me control of the family Kodak DX4530 and crossed their fingers, hoping for the best (and no more bills). In spring 2005, I switched my focus from snapshots of random people and from photojournalism for my school paper to photography as an art. I had somewhat of a slow transition (blame hurricanes) but after aquiring a Flickr account to archive the better ones, my numbers shot up. I think I took close to 2000 pictures in the last 3 months, though my Kodac is old and might be mixing numbers out. In March 2006, I upgraded to a Canon Powershot s80. I hope to buy a professional SLR within the next year, but for now, my Point-in-shoot will do. I'm a novice at photography. I don't try to pass myself off as something great because I know I'm not. But bear with me for a bit. Practice and experience shapes techinique and quality, which I hope to develop and hone. Outside photography, I am an incurable dork who loves mathematics, music, writing, highways, and chocolate. I am a mad scientist-to be, a violinist, a journalist, a feminist, and sharp observer. I want to live in New York City, and I hate hurricanes. For the most part, I don't bite. |
